All yachts are equipped with life jackets and safety harnesses for everyone onboard. It's the skipper's responsibility to check safety equipment and advise when personal safety equipment should be worn. Waterproofs are available on board as part of your charter. Please report any equipment issues to base staff immediately before departing—once you leave, we cannot be held responsible.

Every yacht has a qualified Skipper and first mate. They are in charge of the yacht from a safety perspective and will give a briefing to all about the yacht when they onboard for the weekend.

Sailing in variable conditions is part of the experience, and often the most powerful leadership lessons emerge when the weather is challenging. The professional crew continuously monitors conditions and will adjust the sailing plan to ensure everyone's safety. In the rare event of extreme weather, alternative arrangements will be made to ensure the coaching programme is delivered in full.

This is an experiential learning experience to upskill your leadership skills using sailing and the Ocean as the teacher. You will of course learn about the ropes, sails and helming over the weekend. Experiential learning is under the expertise of Marina Nicholas, a prestigious leadership coach, who blends the activities of the day with transferable leadership skills to take back to your company.

Absolutely not. No sailing experience is required, and most participants have never set foot on a yacht before arriving. The professional sailing crew handles all technical aspects of safety and navigation. Your role is to engage with the leadership challenges, participate in helming and teamwork exercises, and allow the experience on the water to open up new perspectives. The sailing is the enabler, not the exam.

Most leadership development takes place in a classroom, a hotel conference room, or over a video call. The environment stays familiar, and so do the patterns. The Leadership Sailing weekend removes every familiar cue and places you on the open water, where your decisions have real consequences, your crew depends on your leadership, and Mother Nature provides challenges that no facilitator could simulate. Combined with Marina's 35 years of coaching expertise, the result is an experience that participants consistently describe as unlike anything they have done before.

The weekend includes all sailing instruction and yacht charter, expert leadership coaching from Marina Nicholas, lunch on day one, all retreat materials and resources, professional safety equipment, and your personalised 90-day business acceleration plan. Accommodation on Friday and Saturday evenings, transport to Portsmouth, and additional meals are arranged separately, and the travel team is happy to assist with those bookings.

Group sizes are kept deliberately small to ensure personalised coaching and meaningful connection between participants. Each weekend typically hosts between 6 and 12 leaders across one or more yachts. This is an intimate, high-impact experience designed for depth rather than scale.
